The Italian ship Albachiara SS was built by Koch, Lubeck,, Germany in 1904 as the German cargo steamer ANNA TIEDE for C. Tide, Wismar. In 1909 she was renamed MECKLENBURG and in 1928 renamed ALBACHIARA SS.
She was torpedoed and sunk by a British submarine TRAVELLER on September 5th, 1942, 25 miles from Ras el Tin.
