Allen Tony25/03/2008Mirella SS was an Italian Steam Tanker of 5,222 tons built in 1918 by Charles Connell & Company, Scotstoun for the Shipping Controller (mngr Anglo Saxon Petroleum Co London) as the WAR PROPHET SS. She was previously called VALLARSA and owned by Industrie Navale Soc.Anon. Genoa (1935) WAR PROPHET (1919) and was built in 1918 and was owned by GAVARONE FU GIOVANNI, DITTA GIOVANNI. She was on route from TYNE for LEGHORN with 3,900 tons of coal when she was torpedoed by German submarine U-20.
