SS Magda, built by R. Duncan & Co. Ltd., Port Glasgow in 1905 and owned at the time of her loss by A/S Magda (H. A. Meyer), Tønsberg, was a Norwegian steamer of 1603 tons. 641 nrt, 1714 dwt.; 227.3 x 35.2 x 14.6; triple expansion engine (Hutson & Son, Glasgow), 125 nhp.

On August 18th, 1915, Magda, on a voyage from Port Talbot to Nantes with a cargo of coal, was sunk by the German submarine U-27 (Bernd Wegener), 8 miles off Trevose Head. There were no casualties.

  • 1915: 18.08. : Torpedert uten varsel av tysk u-båt U-27 (utf. Hartland Point), på reise Port Talbot – La Rochelle med kull.
Allen Tony18/08/2008Magda SS was a Dutch Cargo Steamer of 1,055 tons built in 1905 by Robert Duncan & Co., Port Glasgow, Yard No 308 for the Amyl S.S. Co., (W Tully & Co), Hull as the DARRYL SS. In 1907 she was purchased by H. A. Meyer, Tonsberg, Holland and renamed MAGDA SS.

On the 18th August 1915 she was torpedoed by German submarine U-27 when about 12 miles west of Hartland Point on passage from Port Talbot for Nantes with a cargo of coal.
