Allen Tony01/08/2008Djurdjura SS was a British Cargo Steamer of 3,460 tons built in 1922 by Ardrossan Drydock & Shipbuilding Co, Yard No 314 for Lancashire Shipping Company (J.Chambers), Liverpool as the PENRITH CASTLE SS. In 1927 she was purchased by Les Cargos Algeriens, Algiers and seized at Falmouth on the 25th July 1940 for the Ministry of Shipping, UK. On the 13th June 1941 she was torpedoed by the Italian submarine BRIN when on passage from Pepel for Oban with a cargo of iron ore.
