Schooner; 66 tons; Owned by A. Thompson & T. Black; Built at Sutherland & Co. in 1872. Registered at Dunedin. Registration no. 6/1873.

BENCLEUGH (H. D. Bezer) was on voyage from Port Chalmers, New-Zealand to Macquarie Island, Tasmania on a sealing trip with a crew of 19, when she parted anchor during a gale and ra aground off Macquarie Island. 1 died. The survivors were taken off the island by the sealer FRIENDSHIP.
