Allen Tony19/03/2008Nalon SS was a British Passenger/Cargo Vessel of 7,206 tons built in 1915 by Russell & Co Port Glasgow as the MURILLO SS for Liverpool, Brazil & River Plate SN Co. (Lamport & Holt Ltd), Liverpool. In 1929 she was purchased by Nelson SN Co., Liverpool. In 1932 she was renamed NALON SS. In 1933 she was acquired by Royal Mail Lines. On the 6th November 1940 when on route from Cape Town for the Clyde she was bombed by German aircraft and sunk W of Ireland.

Purchased the White Star Line in 1927.

In 1932, changed name to Royal Mail Line and re-organisation after scandal and losses.

In 1965 RML was purchased by Furness, Withy & Co.
