Allen Tony20/07/2013SS Vivid was sold to the Royal Technical College, Glasgow and converted to a training ship. She ran aground and was wrecked at Colonsay when on passage from Glasgow for Stornoway on her first cruise after conversion on the 8th July 1913. She was also called SS Capercailzie when owned by John Burns of Glasgow.

John Barclay became a shipbuilder and repairer in 1818 and passed on the business to his son Robert. Robert was joined in partnership in 1845 by Robert Curle and James Hamilton, when the firm became Barclay, Curle & Co.
