Lettens Jan26/10/2011The Hungarian ship KELET, who had just picked up 35 survivors from the torpedoed CLAN MACPHEE, was torpedoed and sunk by gunfire by the German uboat UA (Hans Cohausz), 19 August 1940.

6 persons were lost. 33 crew and 35 survivors from CLAN MACPHEE were picked up by the Norwegian ship VAREGG.

KELET was originally the TREGARTHEN (II), built in 1913 by J. Readhead for Hain Edward. She was en route in ballast from Port Talbot to Tampa.
