Lettens Jan22/08/2011SS Portofino, built by Akt. Ges. 'Neptun', Rostock in 1912 and owned at the time of her loss by Ferrovie dello Stato, Genoa, was an Italian steamer of 1754 tons.

On June 3rd, 1917, Portofino, on a voyage from Penarth to Blaye, was sunk by the German submarine UC-66 (Herbert Pustkuchen), 3 miles ExN of the Pendeen Light. 3 persons were lost.

Note: this position '3 miles E by N of Pendeen Lighthouse' is in land, we suppose '3 miles N by E'.
