Avec4311/07/2011Navigue dans un convoi de onze navires français de Bône à Marseille à hauteur de l'île San Pietro (Sardaigne). Saute sur une mine en portant secours au navire CAP TOURANE ayant heurté une mine 11 minutes auparavant. Coule en 5 minutes, l'équipage est récupéré.

In a convoy of eleven french ships French on voyage from Bône to Marseille near the island of San Pietro (Sardinia), Hit a mine in rescuing the ship CAP TOURANE having struck a mine 11 minutes before. Sunk in 5 minutes, the crew being rescued.

On September 13th, 1940, a convoy of 11 ships on a voyage from Bône to Marseille, travels through an unknown minefield laid by the Italians, off the island of San Pietro, off Sardinia. At 9h10, the CAP TOURANE runs against a mine.

At 9h22, the CASSIDAIGNE, coming to Cap Tourane's rescue, is hit as well and sink in 5 minutes. The crew of Cassidaigne however, manages to escape and is picked up by Djebel Aurès.

At 9h28, the GINETTE LE BORGNE is mined, breaks in two pieces and sinks in 2 minutes. Cap Tourane hits another mine, but manages to reach Ajaccio.

Note: ships in this convoy were: passenger ships General Gouverneur Grévy, General Gouverneur Jonnart, General Gouverneur Tirman, El Biar and Cape Tourane and cargos Ginette Le Borgne, Oasis, Djebel Aurès, Moron, Mers-el-Kébir and Cassidaigne.
