Ship dedicated to the cod fishery, hook mode. Sunk by gun fire by the German submarine U-94 (Oblt Otto Ites) despite the visible marks of neutrality (as the FV Delaes). Refugees on board of their individual fishing boats, sailors and fishermen were dispersed by the storm. The American corvette IX99 rescued only 8 survivors 11 days after the attack

Allen Tony12/10/2007Maria da Gloria FV was a Portugese Sailing Fishing Vessel of 320 tons built in 1919. On the 5th JUne 1942 when on route from LISBON for the FISHING GROUNDS she was attacked by U-94 with gunfire and sunk. 34 crew missing from a total crew of 44.
