Allen Tony10/05/2008Katha SS was a British Cargo Steamer of 4,357 tons built in 1938 by William Denny & Brothers, Dumbarton, Yard No 1314 for the British & Burmese Steam Navigation Company, Glasgow. She was powered by a steam triple expansion engine of 283nhp giving 9.5 knots. On the 2nd April 1943 when on route from LONDON , HULL & OBAN for DURBAN , COLOMBO & CALCUTTA carrying a cargo of 16 aircraft,7,000 tons naval & military stores & general cargo she was torpedoed by U-124 and sunk off the coast of Portugal.

6 crew lost from a total crew of 69.
