Jan Lettens12/05/2012Duc d'Aumale, built by Chantiers Nantais de Constructions Maritimes, Nantes in 1901 and owned at the time of her loss by Société Nouvelle d'Armement, Nantes, was a French steel barque of 2.189 tons.

On January 22nd, 1917, Duc d'Aumale, on a voyage from Bahia Blanca to Pauillac (Bordeaux) with a cargo of corn, was scuttled by the German submarine U-43 (Hellmuth Jürst). There were no casualties.
Vleggeert Nico11/11/2009On a voyage from Bahia Blanca to Bordeaux, the French barque Duc d’Aumale was intercepted by U-43 and sunk by explosives.
