Chipchase Nick13/10/2009Talus was one of Carmicheal´s " Golden Fleet ". She was built by Barclay, Curle and Co as a full-rigged ship. She could carry 3359 tons of wheat or 3381 tons of coal. She achieved Liverpool to Melbourne in 81 days. In her final years she was owned by W Lewis and Co of Greenock. On June 14th 1919 she went missing after departing the Clyde for New York in ballast.

John Barclay became a shipbuilder and repairer in 1818 and passed on the business to his son Robert. Robert was joined in partnership in 1845 by Robert Curle and James Hamilton, when the firm became Barclay, Curle & Co.
