Lettens Jan03/09/2011The President was an East Indiaman, homeward bound from India to London, with an extremely valuable cargo of spices, indigo, drugs, Indian piece goods (textiles), 100 tons of pepper, a small amount of diamonds and much "Jewish Treasure of Pearl". Salvage took place soon after the wrecking, but many scattered pieces are still on the seabed.

(4) 1679/80 Madras and Bengal. Capt Jonathan Hide jun. Downs 13 Feb 1680 - 1 Jul Madras - 27 Jul Masulipatam - 7 Aug Bengal - 30 Oct Balasore - 26 Feb 1681 Masulipatam - 5 Mar Madapollam - 21 Mar Madras - 17 Jun Mauritius - 7 Nov St Helena - 13 Jan 1682 Downs.
