Allen Tony21/03/2008HEALDTON SS was a American Steam Tanker of 4,489 tons built in 1908 by Greenock & Grangemouth Dockyard Co, Greenock as the PURELIGHT SS for the Purelight Steamship Company, Hamburg. In 1911 she was acquired by Pure Oli Co., Hamburg and in 1916 was purchased by Standard Oil Company, Bayonne NJ and renamed HEALDTON SS. On the 21st March 1917 she was torpedoed by German submarine when on route fr om Philadelphia for Rotterdam.
