Allen Tony26/06/2007Martin Goldschmidt was a Danish cargo steamer of 2095 tons and built in 1922 and owned by NIELSEN & SON, MARIUS. D/S A/S PROGRESS. On the 14th February 1940 when on route from SAFFI for FREDERICIA carrying a cargo of phosphates she was torpedoed by U-53 and sunk. 15 crew lost and 5 crew were saved.
