Lettens Jan07/12/2009TAJANDOEN MV Stoomvaart Maats. Nederland; 1931; Nederlandsche Scheeps-bouw Maats.; 8,159 tons; 469x62,2x32,6; 2.122 n h.p.; oil engines.

The Dutch motorship Tajandoen was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-47 on December 7th, 1939, about 40 miles N. of Ouessant on a voyage from Amsterdam to Batavia. Six of her crew were lost.

Allen Tony07/12/2007Tajandoen MV was a Dutch cargo motor vessel of 8,159 tons which was built in 1931 and owned by NEDERLAND, NV STOOMVAART MAATSCHAPPIJ. On the 7th December 1939 when on route from AMSTERDAM and ANTWERP for BATAVIA carrying a crago of 14 passengers, general cargo, cement, iron and steel sheets she was torpedoed by German submarine U-126 and sunk. 7 crew were lost.
