Allen Tony04/02/2010Gartavon SS was a British cargo steamer of 1,777 tons built in 1921 by Grayson, Garston, England as the British cargo steamer GELVES SS for M. Isaacs & Sons. In 1927 she was renamed GARTAVON SS when purchased by the Gart Line.

On the 7th September 1939 when on route from SETE & LA GOULETTE for THE CLYDE carrying 4200 tons of sugar she was attacked by gunfire from U-47 and sunk.
