Allen Tony19/03/2008Algier MV was a Danish motor vessel of 1,654 tons and built in 1938. On the 21st March 1940 when on route from NEW YORK for OSLO and COPENHAGEN carrying a general cargo she was torpedoed by German submarine U-38 and sunk. 5 crew were lost including 1 passenger.

Lettens Jan08/10/2011The Algier was salvaged and most of the copper was saved the first year, but a Norwegian purpose built salvage vessel sneaked in and took the last 70 tons of it. They were caught in Norway and had to hand it all over.
