  The Wreck today

Lettens Jan06/08/2007

The Abukir (Wk24) stands 6m proud. Rudder and propellor are still there. The wreck is remarkably well preserved. The bridge is (naturally) collapsed. The bow lies in deeper water and some parts of the ship's crockery set with the abbreviation K.M.L. were found. (Khedivial Mail Line). The winch and some remains of the anchor-telegraph can be seen on the bow . One mast collided in direction of the bow.

Some Lee Enfield ammunition (.303) and some praying accessoires (gebedssnoeren) were found. The area is known for very good visibility at death tide.
