  History

Allen Tony03/03/2014Cato was a British Steam Cargo Vessel built in 1914 and was on route from DUBLIN for BRISTOL with 400 tons of general cargo when she hit a mine and sank. 13 crew lost from a total crew 15. It is said that she was carrying a cargo of stout in barrels and that locals along the coast enjoyed many communal drinking sessions and the ship was nicknamed 'the Guinness Wreck'
